Abstract

Some results of a comprehensive study of traffic behaviour on the M1 motorway in Nottinghamshire, England, are presented. For a range of traffic flows, various parameters such as vehicle lengths, speeds, gaps, lane distributions and platooning incidence have been measured under a variety of weather conditions with an objective of understanding the change in traffic behaviour with adverse weather, particularly reduced visibility.
