Abstract

In the framework of the TEMPO - CONNECT program Slovenia began with the project of rerouting motorway traffic in the Republic of Slovenia. The purpose of this project is to design a system of informing the drivers in traffic about motorway rerouting. One of the aims is also to introduce a unified form and contents for traffic-informative signalisation with the purpose of recognition and harmonization in influential area of traffic rerouting in the Republic of Slovenia, which extends at least to the neighbouring countries: Italy, Croatia, Hungary and Austria. However, the main goal is the exchange of information about traffic events in the above-mentioned region. Besides the existing systems for rerouting motorway traffic throughout the EU the paper also presents a new system concept for motorway traffic rerouting based on European experiences. The new concept can be very useful for other parts of Europe that do not have such system yet. The concept is interesting above all from the economic point of view.
