Movement of pedestrians on footways in shopping streets.

Abstract

A study has been made of the relationship between speed and density of pedestrians walking on the footpath at three different sites in shopping streets, two in Oxford Street, London, and one in High Street, Slough. At each site pedestrians were moving in both directions with no cross flows to entrances or other footways.
