Abstract

This article highlights the activities of San Antonio's corridor management team (CMT). This cooperative, multi-agency team serves to coordinate mobility programs and roadway construction activities that cut across jurisdictions and agencies in the region. The CMT involves the Texas Department of Transportation, the City of San Antonio, VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority, Bexar County and private concerns such as towing operators and local special event venues. The team communicates regularly within and outside of regular group meetings. Activities include monitoring major project construction activities; coordinating special event activities; coordinating the region's incident management program; and developing operational plans involving multi-jurisdictional and multi-agency plans. Benefits of this team include the development of close working relationships across agencies and a chance to discuss and coordinate the impacts and progress of operational improvements and programs of the respective systems represented on the team.
