Abstract

This paper describes the development of a dummy neck that has improved kinematic biofidelity in frontal impacts. The design requirements for an improved multi-directional dummy neck (frontal, lateral, and oblique) were established in an earlier program using data from volunteer tests done by the Navy Biodynamics Laboratory in New Orleans, and from cadaver tests done by the University of Heidelberg.
