Abstract

The paper describes the progress of the ADEPT project, which is the leading European research project in the field of road-use pricing and automatic debiting for road transport applications. ADEPT (an acronym for Automatic Debiting and Electronic Payment for Transport) has developed an advanced transponder and smart-card system which is currently under trial, in four European cities, namely Cambridge (UK), Göteborg (S), Thessaloniki (GR) and Lisboa (P). This paper focuses upon the test sites of Goeteborg and Thessaloniki where full multi-lane toll-collection applications of the ADEPT equipment are being demonstrated.
