Multi-use developments of highways in urban areas.

Abstract

By integrating freeways with the redevelopment of the area through which it passes, the problem of intrusion of the freeways on the city landscape can be overcome. Examples of multi-use development of highways are listed and reasons are given for the rarity of multi-use development in north America. The technical problems which must be considered in multiple-use development consisted of: noise, air pollution, lighting, ventilation, structural, vibration and legal.
