Abstract

This paper outlines the potential role of multi-attribute decision analysis to the evaluation of transportation systems. Based upon recent developments which now permit the operational assessment of multi-attribute utility functions, a theoretical base for the use of this approach is outlined. The strengths and limitations of this method are discussed in the context of a case study of its application in the planning for airport facilities in Mexico.
