Abstract

This paper describes how internet public transport trip planner applications were developed as part of demonstrations of measures aimed at promoting urban intermodal passenger travel. It describes the key features of the packages that each site is demonstrating. It identifies the developments that each site has undertaken to ensure a common level of high-quality public transport information within these demonstration packages. The paper then describes a promising technique for interconnecting internet trip planners. The Barcelona pilot trial is then described to explain features and issues related to multimodal trip planning at the metropolitan level.
