On the long distance corridors in the North and Baltic Sea ferries play an important part in the intermodal trip chain. From the users' point of view easily accessible car route descriptions, timetables for ferries and public transport are needed and should be provided by travel information services. One of the main obstacles towards such services was the lack of a ferry database. The article reports on the content acquisition for the Baltic Sea Ferries. Based on the database a multimodal car route planner with integrated timetables was piloted that shows the benefits to the users andstimulates the deployment of similar services from other service providers.
