Abstract

The incidence of single and multiple injuries, associated injuries, and the AIS levels of single and multiple injuries for each most severely injured body region are estimated, based on an analysis of 1982- 1986 NASS, the 1988 Iowa Safety Restraint Assessment, 1984- 1986 Maryland Hospital Discharge records and published data. The effect on length of hospital stay, work days lost, and cost of medical treatment also are considered.
