Abstract

A variety of advanced public transportation information systems (APTS) have been developed in recent years. In parallel, the US is developing a set of standards for sharing public transport data sets, called the Transit Communications Interface Profiles (TCIP). This paper presents an internet-based transit information system that uses the TCIP data structures, and demonstrates the implementation for two cities with large transport fleets. Using the TCIP data framework makes it possible to create an application, originally designed for Seattle, USA, that can easily be deployed in Portland and other cities. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
