Abstract

The Study Centre for Traffic Engineering SVT has established a working group to investigate the real effect of traffic engineering measures on speed and volume of motorized traffic and not - intentioned by - effects. One of the outcomes is that is has never been proven that major roads lead to higher speeds and thus to less traffic safety. Literature study and field work should throw more light on what we may expect from proposed measures.
