Abstract
The Netherlands want to remain a centre of physical goods distribution and transport and at the same time become a centre of data transmission, which can either be used to back up the logistics of goods transport, or be used to co-ordinate goods movements in other geographical areas. This can be realized through an effective use of telematics. The Dutch Ministry of Transport supports this in order to promote combined transport, to increase loading rate and to reduce car mileage.
