This study analyses the wrong seat belt use. The study is based on the results of measurements of the wrong use of both seat belts and child seats. These measurements were carried out in the Netherlands, in the spring of 1991. The results of the analyses of the seat belt use by front seat passengers showed that short people used the belt worse than did tall persons. However, the results of the analyses of the drivers' belt use showed just the opposite. It can be concluded that a good drivers' sitting position was more frequent than that of front seat passengers. Seat belt use by four-door car occupants scored worse than that of two-door car occupants. The difference in the wrong seat belt use between the presence and absence of belts that could be adjusted in height was small.
