Abstract

The UK National Cycling Strategy was launched in July 1996 with a target of doubling cycle use by 2002 and doubling it again by 2012. To increase cycling, convenient cycle access, improved safety, better road space allocation, cycle parking, increased security, changed attitudes, increased availability of funding and personnel, and monitoring of progress are required. This leaflet describes the establishment of the National Cycling Forum. The objectives of the strategy are tabulated.
