Abstract

Much is being done, at Federal, State and Local Government levels, as well as among non-government organisations, to improve road safety. Nevertheless, people continue to be killed and injured with alarming regularity on Australian roads. The SaferRoads project is designed to elevate the profile of 'road safety' politically, which currently does not rate as a major issue of concern among motorists or the wider community. SaferRoads seeks to build awareness in the community of both the importance of road safety, and to broaden community understanding of the ways in which safety can be improved-that road safety is a shared responsibility.
