Abstract

This presentation summarises and reviews the US Intelligent Vehicle-Highway Systems (IVHS) program, with emphasis on ways in which R & D results are being translated into operational systems appropriate for early deployment. Major operational tests of IVHS technologies and methods for evaluating the effectiveness of these technologies; public and private sector relationships being established to achieve successful implementation; and initiatives being taken for achieving international cooperation and coordination are all discussed. (A short summary only is published in the seminar volume).
