Abstract

Natural seduction: how the environment stimulates the road user to change his behaviour When discussing the possibilities for managing the traffic, too often a quick conclusion is drawn that these possibilities are rather limited due to capabilities of road users for self-organisation. In the project Info and Stimula de possibilities to enhance the self-organisation is topic of study. The question is no longer how to manage the traffic by guiding road users and giving orders to them, but by seducing them to adapt their behaviour to the momentary traffic situation. Animal behaviour will be used as a source for inspiration. Although the study is still in progress, it seems that our instrumental vision on traffic management, is only the beginning of a development. A development to create a safer and smoother traffic.
