Abstract

There exists a possibility of further accident prevention to a substantial extent through improving and strengthening pre- license driver education. In Japan virtually all of the candidates for new drivers of passenger cars are educated in the driving schools based on a nationally standardized curriculum which consists of field training of driving skill and class room lessons on traffic laws and vehicle mechanism. The driving skill training can be improved by increasing on- road driving practices in order that the trainees can obtain more ability of proper judgement on speed decision, detection and avoidance of hazards and other tasks of safe driving
