Abstract

This paper examines the existing transport policy and road safety programmes in Nairobi (Kenya) in relation to urban planning policy and process as well as institutional framework. The paper identifies the missing links in the road safety policy and programmes. The paper examines in particular the role of political and institutional framework in the implementation of a viable road safety programme in Nairobi. (A) The French title of the paper is: "Le besoin d'un programme compréhensif de sécurité routière à la cité de Nairobi, Kenya".
