Abstract

The Negligent-Operator Treatment Evaluation System provides annual cost-effectiveness analyses of the California Department of Motor Vehicles' Negligent-Operator (NegOp) program. Three levels of progressively more severe NegOp treatments were evaluated. When the results for the warning letters and notices of intent (level 1 and 2) were combined they revealed a statistically relevant significant reduction in accidents. The regular probation heaving (level 3) was the only treatment which produced a statistically significant reduction in accidents when analysed by itself.
