Abstract

Teleste Video Networks new advanced traffic management (ATM) digital video networking product platform uses ATM network backbone transmission and state-of-the-art MPEG-2 hardware EASI (edge access system interface) encoder and decoder network edge devices. The use of the system in Austin, Texas, USA is described. Phase 1 comprises 360 intersections with Ethernet-enabled 2070 traffic controllers, of which 120 have real-time full-resolution, DVD quality video channels. The video channels are routed to the control room via a switched ATM network from EASI MPEG-2 NEMAS field hardened encoders. For the covering abstract see ITRD E115762.
