Abstract

The neural responses to depth motion stimulation has been investigated in a higher order interneuron in the visual brain of the blowfly. The optical stimulus was generated by an outline square or elements of a square moving in real depth. It is shown that this neuron is velocity coding assuming different delay constants for the excitatory and inhibitory regions. The status of this neuron in the process of visual depth perception is discussed.
