Abstract

The objective of New Car Assessment Japan is to increase the use of safe automobiles by providing an environment in which users can easily select such vehicles. This also promotes the development of safer vehicles by automobile manufacturers. This publication includes among other things: (1) the results of the full-wrap frontal collision, offset frontal collision, and side collision tests performed on various passenger car models. The overall crash safety rating is carried out based on the results of these safety tests; (2) braking performance test results; (3) the results of child seat safety performance comparison tests (frontal collision, usability); and (4) installation conditions of safety devices.
