Abstract

The development of two roadside barrier median barrier systems by computer simulation is examined. The systems are designated as the concrete barrier with blocked out W rail and the Thrie T Barrier. Both barriers appear to be capable of redirecting lightweight vehicle impacts at an intensity reduced from existing systems, and both systems appear to be capable of retaining intercity buses.
