Abstract

Current design and markings for passing and no-passing zones are based on the results of studies conducted over 35 years ago. A review of recent research, with emphasis on studies dealing directly with design an marking practices, indicates that sufficient data are available to develop improved design and marking standards. Specific criteria for design and marking of passing and no-passing zones are suggested.
