Abstract

Within the next couple of years Denmark will have a new national traffic accident registration system based on the exchange of computerised information between the police, the Danish Bureau of Statistics, the Road Directorate, the 14 Danish counties and all of the Danish municipalities. This paper describes the procedures of the existing system and the development of the new one. In the final section the use of distributed accident information to local systems in order to point out accident black spots is presented together with the accident prediction models used in this work.
