Abstract

Given the significant number of fatalities and serious injuries that result from automobile accidents in the USA every year, the issue of automobile safety regulations is very important. This paper carries out a cost benefit analysis of the regulations concerned with the introduction of passive restraints, air bags, and crash-resistant bumpers using improved estimates of the benefits from these safety features.
