Abstract

The necessity for continually improving fuel consumption has been one of the main reasons for construction of Ford of Europe's aerodynamic windtunnel in Cologne. The paper gives details of the facility which is capable of developing both scale and full- size vehicle models at comparable Reynolds numbers through the use of removable inserts in the test section. When under test seven aerodynamic forces acting on the vehicle being evaluated can be measured simultaneously and independently.
