Abstract

Examples from Germany show that mainly at work zones situations with extremely dangerous circumstances sometimes improvements may be reached with small changes. Concerning this, an European interchange of experience and ideas is obvious, because more and more drivers visit European countries. For that purpose now a research project called ARROWS (Advanced Research on the ROad Workzone Safety Standards in Europe), was initiated, which will be financed by the European Communities. The main objectives of the ARROWS project are outlined in this paper.
