Abstract

This paper describes the process of determining a suitable resin equivalent in mechanical characteristics to human bone, to enable development of a new physical model of the human head. Quasi-static axial bending loads were applied to skull bones from cadavers to quantify mechanical response and a finite element model was structured. Resin specimens were created and the same test applied. A head model in stereolithography was created to be used as a master for a silicone mould. The new head physical model would be used for a new head dummy and would be deformable. For the covering abstract see ITRD E121180.
