Abstract

Against the sombre background of the deepening tragedy of Australia's road accident toll, and amid, too, the haziness caused by the absence of an up-to-date Australian standard of street lighting practice, a hopeful new light is gleaming. It is the new era in which, on the one hand, the new SAA Lighting Code will provide a focusing point for street lighting engineers and administrators, and on the other hand, an era brightened by a more enlightened, concerted approach to overcoming some of the financial obstacles to the widespread adoption of new Code-standard lighting programs.
