Abstract

Laboratory trials of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) material and recycled crushed concrete have been conducted to evaluate suitable blends that can be produced for field trialing as a roadbase in a heavily trafficked pavement. Based on laboratory trials two blends were produced through a stabilisation and blending plant for trialing on a quarry entrance road. The RAP and recycled crushed concrete blends were trialed against a conventional roadbase which acted as a control. Since construction of the field trial, traffic and pavement monitoring have been carried out on a regular basis. The field trial has been trafficked for 12 months and its performance to date is excellent, exhibiting no discernible rutting in the sections containing the blends or the control. (A)
