Abstract

Odense's traffic plan for the city centre, which has recently been realized, is an attempt to take care of the city centre and the main goals were: to protect the buildings, streets and lanes; to remove all unnecessary traffic; to create better conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and the collective traffic. A comprehensive plan for all categories of traffic using the city centre was approved unanimously by the city council. The plan regulates changes and improvements in the road system, pedestrian areas, cycle paths, public transport and parking facilities. The paper deals with two special features from the plan: bicycle lanes through the city centre and a new parking guidance system. (A)
