Abstract

The Road Safety 2000 Action Plan supplements "Road Safety 2000 : the Strategic Plan for Road Safety in NSW". Road Safety 2000 provides strategic directions through its Strategic Issues and Objectives and indicates the range of appropriate strategies for road safety in NSW during the 1990s. In contrast, the Road Safety 2000 Action Plan aims to document the projects and actions actually being undertaken or planned. It is a collation of the programs and projects of a wide range of organisations in NSW and draws these together to represent the combined road safety effort in NSW. The Action Plan provides a link between the plans, policies and programs of road safety agencies. Its purpose is to: (1) provide a description of the current NSW Road Safety Program, and the projects and sub-programs that comprise it, together with the organisations involved in them; (2) provide basic information so that management issues relevent to the State's Road Safety Program can be addressed; (3) assist the further development of planning and implementation, including at the regional level; and (4) help organisations to define their roles. This document is divided into two main parts: 'road safety in NSW : working together' and 'objectives to actions'. An index of organisations which are referred to in the Action Plan is also provided.
