Amsterdam is planning to build a new urban location in the IJ-Lake. This study is about a segment of the stage that has to be realized first in that location. The segment will contain approximately 2000 houses. A railway system and a motorway will cross the area, which will cause barriers and noise-problems. Two models with different traces for the infrastructure have been worked out: a model that combines railway and motorway and a model in which railway and motorway are separated. Both models have been analysed on their consequences for traffic and environmental and town planning. Close-ups have been made for the infrastructure zones in the central area and the northern side.
