Abstract

Lighting for road traffic must make visual perception possible for the road user in an efficient way in order to ensure the best possible performance and to maintain effortless visual comfort even for protracted periods. The object of this is to promote road safety. This necessitates 1) sufficient light; 2) adequately uniform distribution of the light in the optical field; 3) adequate limitation of glare; 4) visual guidance.
