Abstract

The increasing air pollution, also caused by exhaust fumes, makes the study into an alternative of the conventional car engine necessary. The Stirling engine could be such an alternative. The engine is clear and has a high profit. The design has been developed 170 years ago but still there is only a prototype. Now the production of such engines in the Netherlands is planned.
