Abstract

The possibilities of application of four non-conventional techniques in the urban public transport are studied. The four techniques are: Personal Rapid Transit (PRT); Group Rapid Trasit (GRT); and the paratransit systems Spectra and Witkar. In the Spectra system use is made of the existing network of public transport with a feeder network of small buses or minitrams. For Amsterdam the paratransit systems have the most advantages. The two systems and their usefulness are briefly described.
