Abstract

This paper gives figures on road casualties in Great Britain and London for 1965 on urban and rural roads in daylight and dark hours. It discusses the economic justification of public lighting, and gives examples of effective reduction in injury accidents during dark hours on various types of road, after lighting had been improved.
