Abstract

This paper describes Nissan's Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV), which was developed in the course of the company's involvement in the first 5-year ASV Project of Japan's Ministry of Transport. Nissan's ASV incorporates a total of twelve advanced safety systems. The main concept of the ASV is focused on the reduction of human errors which might be the major cause of traffic accidents. An overview is given of individual systems, and several technologies that are distinctive features of Nissan's ASV are discussed in detail.
