Abstract

While General Motors believes in the necessity of a Federal Noise Control Act, it does not concur with the proposed Federal noise level of 80 dBa as 50 ft from the lane of travel for speeds less than 35 mph for vehicles weighing more than 10.000 lbs. The conclusion from the statements and other facts pointed out here is that truck noise levels lower than 83 dBa are not cost-effective.
