Abstract

In addition to the measuring methods according to ISO-362 and ISO/DIS 362.2 two new type approval methods have recently been developed, based on statistical studies of the use of cars in urban driving. These methods are described in: 1)a proposal by CCMC (Committee of Common Market Automobile Constructors), 2) the Draft International Standard ISO/DIS 7188. The aim of the investigation described in this report was to answer the question "which of the 4 type approval methods mentioned yields results agreeing best with the actual noise emission of cars in urban traffic?".
