Abstract

In order to derive the maximum benefit from a vehicle body's energy-absorbing characteristics and from a safety belt's potentialities, the respective behaviours of the vehicle struture and of the individual protection system need to be investigated simultaneously; optimal structural parameters(including both the required geometry of the front part of the passenger compartment and the dynamic characteristics) can then be determined.
