Abstract

For situations involving moderately high density or restricted overtaking, the present study seeks suitable non-Poisson models, with the notion that an appropriate non-Poisson alternative should be "close" to the Poisson model in some sense, such as a multi-parameter generalization of the Poisson distribution. A major purpose is to insert the necessary additional parameters in some fashion appropriate to the modeling of traffic flow.
