Abstract

This paper describes the non-linear dynamic analysis of torque vibration on the drive line of a 26 ton truck. Low frequency noise of around 100Hz had been observed in the drive line of heavy trucks and was attributed to the torque vibration of the drive line. The design of a dynamic damper to reduce the torque vibration is described. The parameters of the dynamic damper are optimised with the aid of a non-linear finite element model of the drive line. The amplitude of the torque vibration on the drive line is attenuated by 12 dB according to the optimised results.
