Abstract

A methodology for predicting the nonlinear steady-state response of car-trailer combinations has been developed and applied to a specific vehicle system. This can serve as a valuable tool both for the design of articulated vehicles and for the evaluation of handling qualities of existing vehicle systems. Principal results are condensed in a carpet plot, which can be used as a handling diagram.
