Abstract
This paper describes the study of a selected sample of newly-qualified drivers which explored whether the judgements drivers make of traffic scenes develop as experience of the traffic scene is amassed. A group of teenage drivers were asked to evaluate a series of videos based on the Judgements of Traffic Scenes task. Drivers were categorised according to length of driving experience and whether they had driven high or low mileage. Danger, Difficulty and Abnormality factors were assessed in relation to driving experience. The results showed more coherent and organised judgement with increased mileage and experince of the traffic system.
