Abstract

This paper deals with the influence of an outrigger on roll stability of a load dependent LCV (light commercial vehicle), since they are frequentlyinclined in rollover accidents because of the high CG (centre of gravity)and inaccurate loading. This is why, in recent years, ESP (Electronic Stability Program) function has been included in these vehicles. Outrigger based rollover controllers (that contain 1 support and 2 supports per side) were developed and simulated for objective assessment. The influence of manoeuvres was tested on the dynamic simulator using a questionnaire for a subjective evaluation. This is because not only the controller but also thereactions of the driver will influence the stability.
